Kyle Baker returns to Marvel Age for his second cover (following his Howard the Duck cover, as well as his It's Genetic cartoons) — spotlighting Critical Mass, the shared storyline that expanded on and tied up events from the Shadowline Saga.

Marvel continued with experimental and possible not so commercial projects with Steeltown Rockers and Interface, while also mining great works of the past with a reprint of Fighting American, a new collection of pre-hero monster stories from titles like Strange Tales and Tales of Suspense, and a back cover ad for Marvel Masterworks.

It was only a matter of time before the Squadron Supreme graduated to their own graphic novel, and Marvel Age #82 turned the spotlight in their direction.

This issue also picks up the Marvel A-Z feature from the old Marvel Age Annuals, giving fans a look ahead to what's coming up in their favorite features.

And this issue, editor Jim Salicrup says goodbye to managing editor Dwight Jon Zimmerman, who was moving over to Marvel's licensing department. Whether he would continue to write for Marvel Age remains to be seen.
