Before the recent reimagining of the Sub-Mariner as seen in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, the scion of Atlantis was this guy: Imperious, haughty, and quick to anger. 1989 marked Namor's 50th anniversary in comics, and this issue of Marvel Age gave readers their first look at the new series by writer / artist John Byrne. Byrne continued on the series for several years, pitting the monarch of Atlantis against Wolverine and others along the way.
Also in this issue, Marvel's A to Z survey continues, Robocop arrives in the hallowed halls of Marvel, and Open Space gets a very "in universe" back cover ad.
