Marvel Age #138 pays tribute to Jack Kirby, who had just passed away a few weeks earlier. The main article about Kirby's career includes quotes from Joe Simon, Joe Sinnott, John Severin, Will Eisner, Dick Ayers, Chic Stone, Martin App, George Roussos, Jack Abel, John Romita, and Flo Steinberg. Both Stan Lee and Fred Hembeck paid tribute to Kirby as well on their respective pages.

Elsewhere in the issue, the Punisher Meets Archie special gets the spotlight in an article and in Mark's Remarks, and readers learned about Marvel's deals with both Pizza Hut and the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of Natural History. Plus, Flair's 1994 cards are revealed, and Deadpool teams up with Cable.

In one of the weirdest decisions Marvel Age ever saw, issue #137 is split, with "front" sections on both sides leading toward the middle of the issue. Confusing!

Fortunately there's lots of fun inside the issue, including an article on the return of John(ny) Blaze as Ghost Rider. There was also the new Marvel Limited line, a catch-all dedicated to reprinting classic issues into comics and collected editions. This issue also took an in-depth look at the Spider-Man Animated Series.

Along with that, Marvel introduced a line of Disney comic, including The Lion King, Beauty and the Beast, The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and an anthology title. Plus, readers got a look at toys to come in Marvel Age's coverage of Toy Fair 1994.

There are just five more issues of Marvel Age, but that's not going to slow things down, as issue #136 introduces – Blackwulf, a series I can't remember ever hearing about. The series ran 10 issues, with stories by Glenn Herdling and art by Angel Medina.

Also this month, the crossover story "Time and Time Again" runs through Nova, Night Thrasher, and New Warriors – and it spells teen trouble for all these heroes, courtesy of writer Fabian Nicieza, artist Darick Robertson, and others.

And Stan Lee gets on his soapbox to plug Riftworld: Villains, a science fiction novel realized by writer Bill McCay. Riftworld seems to have nothing to do with Marvel at all, but it's fun to see Stan try to spin it all as his latest masterpiece.
