Hey, it's Marvel Age #70 — which means we're at the halfway point in the run of good old Marvel Age! And this issue has a really odd cover by John Byrne, who was then the writer/artist on She-Hulk and was about to take over the same chores on West Coast Avengers.

What makes the cover weird? To me, at least, it's the WCA team sort of hanging out at the beach...which doesn't look like a beach. And She-Hulk just happens to be there, where she says "I just came to use the beach," a phrase that makes me say "wha...?"

Inside, Marvel Coming Attractions shows us how quickly the market for collected editions was growing, as Marvel Masterworks get a special break-out treatment.

This issue also introduces a new feature called "Newsreel" — and while that name is pretty well hidden in this debut article, it's framed in a filmstrip layout. And we also get to know Solarman, the Hero Who Could be YouTM

The Mutant Report gives readers a look at the new event, "Inferno," crossing over between not just the X-books but several mainline Marvel titles.
