Just eight more mighty issues of Marvel Age left, and Marvel showed no signs of letting up with new thrills, including the series Force Works and ClanDestine, as well as the big 2099 crossover!

Marvel was just months away from buying my then-employer, kids magazine publisher Welsh Publishing Group, and this month they announced their own kid-friendly magazines – two of 'em, starring Spider-Man and Thomas the Tank Engine.

In other magazine news, Marvel continued its partnership with the NFL, cross-pollinating sports and comics fandom with the NFL Pro Action magazine, which included a new X-Men tale by writer Ralph Macchio and artist Chris Marrinan.
